Section 33 - On the Gathering and Resurrection of Mankind: As They Live, They Die, and As They Die, They Are Resurrected

Original content

English translation

Until you depart from this human abode, know that you are a hostage in the pit of Hell. Wait until the people are resurrected, so that whoever they are inwardly, they shall arise as such. Even if here you are like Qubad and Parviz, as an oppressor, you will rise from the clay as a dog. And if here you are a commander through gold and force, with arrogance, you will rise from the dust as an ant. And if here, through the glory of imperial rule, you find your hand restricted from oppression; Or if you are a jurist, but a stirrer of sedition, you will rise as a demon on the Day of Resurrection. And if you are an ascetic, but foolish, you will be firewood for Hell, but wet. And oh, if you are a judge and an oppressor, on the Day of Gathering you will be helpless. And if you are a scholar but not one who acts upon it, you will be double-tongued, not complete. Since you perish with an evil character, know that you will arise in the form of a wild beast. Your good and evil are best kept to yourself; what concern is your good and evil to anyone else? When the inner meaning comes out of the house into the street, the imprint of hearts will appear upon the faces. When the Creator manifests for display the inner potential and the outward action; Goodness increased the water of the subsequent ones, from evil, dust upon the heads of flies. If you are good, what benefit is that to me? And if I am bad, what harm is that to you? That much is enough for you in this hovel: the ambition of a mouse and the knowledge of a cat.
