Section 10 - He Speaks in Description of the Wicked

Original content

English translation

I do not know, among all the wicked, Any so full of sin as one who harms the innocent. Except for the black-faced at the time of injustice, None rejoice like the Zanzibaris. The occupation of government that is built of tyranny, What is it other than that of a wolf and a furrier? When you are happy with your own justice and wisdom, How can you commit injustice against those beneath you? Whoever seeks tyranny in the world, Are beasts and demons in human form. The subjects are a shadow and the king is a bad foundation; A crooked foundation casts a crooked shadow. Whether the times tear or sew, It learns from the heart of the just king. The generous king is the shadow of God; Be upright and have no fear of anyone. The good and evil that are in beasts of burden and wild beasts Come from the heart of the good king and the bad king. Through the justice of a king like Khosrow, The garden becomes saturated like sweet milk from a breast. If the tyranny of the king shows its face, The marketman becomes sick of herbs. Whoever terrifies an innocent person, Know that they will remain trapped in a place of fear. If the oppressor takes the wealth and lives of the people, Does he not have to die in the end anyway? Though today he acts stubbornly out of foolishness, The grave and the day of resurrection will give him his answer. Nothing of the oppressor—his body, wife, or wealth— Is lawful, except perhaps his blood. The caring king is the deputy of intellect; The bloodthirsty king is not a man, but a beast. The caring man is a man of religion; Whoever cares for others is like this. He who causes pain lives briefly like a fly; He who causes little pain lives long like a vulture. Since his greed did not pain any soul, His justice left his soul to him. Whoever makes it their religion to cause pain, Their body is not a body but a dragon. The life of the afflicted lasts longer, While he who causes pain quickly fails. Do not let anger ride upon intellect, And do not humiliate your own intellect. The foolish one answered bread with water; How can a wise person hear such words? Whoever's anger is greater than their intellect, Creation is sore-hearted because of him, and he because of creation. Anger is like a sword and forbearance is like gold; You are great, choose that which is better because it is better. O King of Kings in this abode of deception, Drink this draft of pure wine. Since God did not create anyone greater than you, Show His servitude better than the rest of creation.
