موسی عاشق امام غرب و شرق
چون همه تن بودش اندر عشق غرق

بر زمین زد لوح توریت و شکست
کرد محکم ریش هارون را بدست

چون زعشق افتاد آمد راستش
حق نه این کرد ونه زان وا خواستش

تا بدانی کانچه عاشق را رواست
گر کسی دیگر روادارد خطاست

گه بود کان یک سخن گستاخ وار
از بسی طاعت فزون آید بکار

English translation

Moses, the lover, the leader of the West and East, When his whole body was drowned in love, Threw the tablet of the Torah to the ground and broke it, And firmly grabbed Aaron's beard in his hand. Since it arose from love, it turned out right for him; God did not punish him for this, nor did He call him to account for that. So that you may know that what is permissible for a lover, If anyone else allows it, it is a mistake. Sometimes a single bold word Is far more useful than much obedience.
