Section 16 - The Allegory

Original content

English translation

For the sake of the flute and the harp of the trickster, The grave-robber built a narrow house. As long as the cat has the flute and the harp, What is better for the mouse than a narrow house? As long as the cat is the master of the market, The agile mouse will not be a shopkeeper. As long as the cat is lurking in the bow's ambush, The mouse's garden is beneath the earth. O wise ones, the cat of death Has sharpened its claws and teeth. Whomever it finds like a mouse, It rushes towards their soul like a cat. In this workshop, by day and by night, Its claws are twisting and the soul is in fever. When it draws you in with a breath from your fever and agitation, It plucks you from existence toward non-existence. That foolish, greed-eating physician Is indeed caressing you. Out of lack of intellect, he does not know That he showed the back of meaning without any transmission. When death stretches out its claws and teeth, The cat never caresses the mouse. The leader of one who is a servant, Their advice from the Prophet was sufficient. With a painful body and a wounded heart, No one reaches the desire of their own heart.
