Section 11 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

A youth went to a renowned elder, And saw him settled in a corner. He was alone, no one was with him, Not for a single breath was a companion with him. He said: 'Do you not feel sad being alone?' The elder said to him: 'O hard-hearted youth, Always in the presence of one's own God, How can one become sad from being away from Him? Whoever is side-by-side with their companion, One moment of it is better than the kingdom of the two worlds.'
