گشت پیدا یک کبوتر نازنین
رفت موسی را همی در آستین

از پسش بازی درآمد سرفراز
گفت ای موسی بمن ده صید باز

رزق من اوست ازمنش پنهان مدار
لطف کن روزی من با من گذار

گشت حیران موسی عمران ازین
میتوان شد ای عجب حیران ازین

گفت این یک را امانم حاصل است
واندگر یک گرسنست این مشکلست

زینهاری پیش دشمن چون کنم
هست دشمن گرسنه من چون کنم

گفت اکنون هیچ دیگر بایدت
گوشتت یا این کبوتر بایدت

باز گفتا گوشتی گر باشدم
راضیم به از کبوتر باشدم

کز لکی خواست از پی مهمان خویش
تا ببرد پارهٔ از ران خویش

باز چون گشت ای عجب واقف زراز
شد فرشته صورت و گم گشت باز

گفت ما هر دو فرشته بودهایم
تا ابد از خورد و خفت آسودهایم

لیک ما را حق فرستاد این زمان
تا کند معلوم اهل آسمان

شفقت تو درامانت داشتن
رحمت تو در دیانت داشتن

هرکرا چشمی بشفقت باز شد
در حریم قرب صاحب راز شد

عفو آمد مذهبش تا بود او
بی کرم یک دم نمیآسود او

English translation

A lovely dove appeared And went right into Moses' sleeve. A proud falcon came after it, And said, 'O Moses, give me back my prey. It is my sustenance, do not hide it from me; Be kind and leave my daily food to me.' Moses, son of Imran, became bewildered by this; One could surprisingly become bewildered by this! He said, 'This one has gained my protection, And the other is hungry; this is a dilemma. How can I hand a refugee to its enemy? The enemy is hungry, what should I do?' He said, 'Now, do you need something else? Do you need my meat or this dove?' The falcon said, 'If I have some meat, I will be satisfied, it will be better than the dove.' So he asked for a knife for his guest, To cut a piece from his own thigh. When the falcon, oh wonder, became aware of the secret, It turned into the form of an angel and the falcon disappeared. He said, 'We were both angels; We are free from eating and sleeping for eternity. But God sent us at this time, To make it known to the inhabitants of heaven: Your compassion in providing asylum, Your mercy in maintaining faith.' Whoever's eye is opened with compassion, Becomes a confidant of the secret in the sanctuary of proximity. Forgiveness became his religion as long as he existed; He would not rest for a single moment without generosity.
