دید بوموسی مگر یک شب بخواب
بر سر خود عرش همچون آفتاب

روز دیگر رفت سوی بایزید
زانکه بوموسی ز جان بودش مرید

گفت تا تعبیر خوابم او کند
مرهم جان خرابم او کند

چون بر او رفت خلق آشفته بود
زانکه شیخ آن شب ز دنیا رفته بود

چون کفن کردند و شستندش پگاه
بر جنازه بر گرفتندش ز راه

گفت بوموسی که چندانی که من
میزدم بر خلق ماتم خویشتن

کز جنازه گوشهٔ آرم بدوش
مینداد آنکس بمن گشتم خموش

زیر آن در رفتم و کردم مقام
تا جنازه بر سر آوردم تمام

چون جنازه بر سرم شد استوار
گشت حالی بایزیدم آشکار

گفت ای بینندهٔ خواب صواب
نیک بنگر آنک آن تعبیر خواب

شخص ما عرش است برگیر وبرو
فهم کن زان خواب تعبیر و برو

گر ملک نزدیک تو کاملترست
جانت از دل دل ز جان غافلترست

در ملک از دیدهٔ دل کن نظر
زانکه عقل این قول دارد مختصر

هر دو عالم از برای آدمیست
از ملک بی آدمی مقصود چیست

زانکه صد عالم ملک بنشانده اند
تا همه در کار مردم مانده اند

گرچه امروز این گهر در خاک بود
باک نبود زانکه گنجی پاک بود

باش تا فردا محک کردگار
نقد مردان را پدید آرد عیار

English translation

Abu Musa happened to see in a dream one night, The Throne upon his head like the sun. The next day he went towards Bayazid, Because Abu Musa was his disciple from the soul. He said, 'Let him interpret my dream, And apply a salve to my ruined soul.' When he went to him, the people were disturbed, Because the Sheikh had passed away from the world that night. When they washed and shrouded him at dawn, They took up his bier from the path. Abu Musa said, 'As much as I, Struck myself in mourning among the people, So that I might carry a corner of the bier on my shoulder, No one gave it to me, so I became silent. I went underneath it and took a position, Until I fully brought the bier upon my head.' When the bier became firmly settled on my head, Bayazid immediately became manifest to me. He said, 'O seer of the true dream, Look well, that is the interpretation of the dream. Our person is the Throne; take it and go, Understand the interpretation from that dream, and go. Though an angel is more perfect to you, Your soul is heedless of the heart, and the heart of the soul. Look upon the angel with the eye of the heart, Because the intellect holds this saying as brief. Both worlds exist for the sake of humanity, Without humanity, what is the purpose of angels? For a hundred worlds of angels have been seated, So that all remain engaged in the service of humanity. Although today this jewel was in the dust, There was no fear, because it was a pure treasure. Wait until tomorrow, the touchstone of the Creator, Will bring forth the standard of men's true worth.'
