عورتی را کودکی گم گشته بود
دل از آن دردش بخون آغشته بود

در میان راه میشد بیقرار
وز غم آن طفل مینالید زار

صوفئی گفتش منال ای نیک زن
پیشه کن تسلیم و فال نیک زن

غم مخور گر تو نیابی ای درش
باز یابی در جهان دیگرش

چون سخن بشنود زن آمد بجوش
گفت ای صوفی چه میگوئی خموش

من ندانم این که هرک اینجایگاه
کم بود فردا شود پیش دو راه

زانکه من دانم که خلق روزگار
زین دو عالم در یکی دارد قرار

بی شکی هم آدمی هم دیگران
یا درین عالم بود یا نه دران

صوفیش گفتا بدان گر اندکی
در میان صوفیان افتد یکی

نیز کس در هر دو عالم جاودان
نه خبر یابد نه نام ونه نشان

هر که او با صوفیان دارد قرار
هست او از هر دو عالم برکنار

تو از آن غم خور که آن طفل لطیف
در میان صوفیان افتد حریف

محو گردد جاودان نامش همی
در دو عالم نبود آرامش همی

هر که قرب حق بدست آرد دمی
همچو دریائی نماید شبنمی

قطرهٔ کو غرقهٔ دریا بود
هر دو کونش جز خدا سودا بود

آب دریا باشد از شش سوی او
واو بمیرد تشنه دل در کوی او

قرب جوی ای دوست وز دوران مباش
وصل خواه از خیل مهجوران مباش

گر نیاید قرب اینجا حاصلت
پیش آرد بعد کاری مشکلت

گر مقام قرب حق میبایدت
بر نکوکاران سبق میبایدت

خورد روز و خواب شب گردان حرام
تا مگر در قرب حق یابی مقام

English translation

A woman had lost a child, Her heart was soaked in blood from that pain. In the middle of the road she was restless, And she was wailing bitterly from the sorrow of that child. A Sufi told her, 'Do not wail, O good woman, Practice surrender and take a good omen. Do not grieve; if you do not find him at this door, You will find him again in the other world.' When the woman heard these words, she became agitated, She said, 'O Sufi, what are you saying? Be silent! I do not know this, that whoever in this place Is lost, tomorrow will be faced with two paths. Because I know that the people of the world Reside in one of these two worlds. Without a doubt, both humans and others, Are either in this world or in that one.' The Sufi said to her, 'Know this, if someone Falls among the Sufis even a little, No one in both worlds forever Will ever find news, nor name, nor trace of him. Whoever resides with the Sufis, Is apart from both worlds. You should grieve over the fact that that delicate child Might fall among the Sufis as a companion. His name will be eternally obliterated, In both worlds, he will have no rest. Whoever obtains proximity to the Truth for a moment, A drop of dew will appear like an ocean. The drop that is drowned in the ocean, Its entire concern in both worlds is nothing but God. The water of the ocean is on his six sides, And he dies thirsty-hearted in His street. Seek proximity, O friend, and do not be of the distant ones, Desire union, do not be among the troop of the separated ones. If proximity is not achieved by you here, Later it will bring you a difficult task. If you require the station of proximity to the Truth, You must surpass the doers of good. Make eating by day and sleeping by night forbidden, So that perhaps you may find a station in the proximity of the Truth.'
