دید روزی بوسعید دیده ور
مبرزی پرداخته در رهگذر

پس عصا در سینه زد آنجایگاه
همچنان میبود و میکرد آن نگاه

هرکه آن میدید انکاریش بود
خاصه منکر بود و بسیاریش بود

کرد آخر یک مرید از وی سئوال
خواست از سلطان حالت کشف حال

شیخ گفتش چون نجاست دیده شد
پس عجب رمزی ازو بشنیده شد

گفت من صد گونه نعمت بوده ام
هم بقوت هم بهمت بوده ام

هم رسیده بودم از درگاه حق
هم مهلل آمدم در راه حق

بود رنگ و لذت و بویم بسی
خواستندی صحبت من هر کسی

یک زمان چون با تو صحبت داشتم
آن همه سلطان سری بگذاشتم

باز افتادم ز صد طاعت ز تو
این چنین گشتم بیک ساعت ز تو

صحبت تو این چنین زیبام کرد
هم نجس هم شوم هم رسوام کرد

گر چنینی مرد نعمت خواره تو
آن من خود رفت ای بیچاره تو

English translation

One day, Abu Sa'id, the visionary, saw An emptied latrine in the passageway. Then he rested his staff against his chest at that place, He remained standing and gazed at it. Whoever saw this disapproved of him, Especially the denier, who had much disapproval. Finally, a disciple asked him a question, Seeking the revelation of the situation from the Sultan of spiritual states. The Sheikh told him: "When the filth was seen, A wondrous secret was heard from it. It said, 'I was a hundred kinds of bounties, I was there for strength and for high resolve. I had arrived from the court of the Truth, I came praising God on the path of Truth. I had much color, delight, and fragrance, Everyone desired my company. Since I kept your company for but a moment, I abandoned all that royal splendor. I fell from a hundred devotions because of you, I became like this in a single hour because of you. Your company has adorned me like this, It made me impure, ill-omened, and disgraced. If you, O man, are such a devourer of bounties, My turn is over, O wretched you!'"
