طالبی را کاو طلب می کرد راز
گفت یک روزی اویس پاکباز

روی آن دارد که تو در راه بیم
تا که جان داری چنان باشی مقیم

کاین همه خلق جهان را آشکار
گوییا تو کشتهٔ از درد کار

تا نباشد این چنین دردی ترا
ننگ باشد خواندن مردی ترا

English translation

To a seeker who was searching for the secret, One day, the sincere Uwais said: It is fitting that upon the path of awe, As long as you have life, you remain so steadfast, That to all the people of the world it becomes clear, As if you have been slain by the pain of this endeavor. As long as you do not possess such a pain, It would be a disgrace to call you a man.
