شد بر فرعون ابلیس لعین
یک کف پر ریگ برداشت از زمین

پس نمود آن ریگ مروارید باز
بعد از آنش ریگ گردانید باز

گفت گیر این ریگ و گوهر کن تو نیز
گفت ازین من میندانم هیچ چیز

پس زفان بگشاد ابلیس لعین
گفت تو با این سرو ریشی چنین

زشتم آید گر گدائی میکنی
از چه دعوی خدائی میکنی

هر زمان ریشی مرصع بر نهی
تخت خواهی تاج اقرع بر نهی

با چنین ریشی چو گردی گرم تو
اینت ریش آخر نداری شرم تو

با چنین قدرت درین افکندگی
می فرا نپذیردم در بندگی

چون تو هم پیسی و هم کل تا بگوش
در خدائی کی پذیرندت خموش

نفس کافر را که در هر ساعتش
آزمایش میکنم در طاعتش

غرقهٔ بهر خطر میبینمش
هر نفس از بد بتر میبینمش

آنچه با من این سگ شوم آن کند
کافرم گر کافر روم آن کند

نیست چون من خویش دشمن هیچکس
بیخبر تر کیست از من هیچکس

آنچه بر من میرود بر کس نرفت
این سر افرازی هنوز از پس نرفت

دولتم چون خشک میغی بود و بس
حاصل از عمرم دریغی بود و بس

تن که یک درد مرا مرهم نکرد
همچو موئی گشت و موئی کم نکرد

ای دریغا جان بتن در باختیم
قیمت جان ذرهٔ نشناختیم

تشنه میمیریم در طوفان همه
وآنک آب از چشمهٔ حیوان همه

هم زمان عیش را سوری نماند
هم چراغ عمر را نوری نماند

درد را مرهم کجا خواهیم کرد
عمر شد ماتم کجاخواهیم کرد

خون شد آهن زآنکه این دردش بخاست
دل که از خونست چون آهن چراست

تا نگردی نقطهٔ درد ای پسر
کی توان گفتن ترا مرد ای پسر

هرکه او در دیدهٔ خود خار نیست
با گل غیب خدایش کار نیست

میروی چون کافر درویش او
کی توان شد این چنین در پیش او

چون زدین و دل تهی داری سرای
چون روی بی دین و دل پیش خدای

چون ترا در خانه جای ماتمست
در چنین جائی دلت چون خرمست

English translation

The accursed Iblis went to Pharaoh, He picked up a handful of sand from the ground. Then he revealed that sand as pearls, After which he turned it back into sand. He said, 'Take this sand and make it into jewels too.' He said, 'I know nothing of this at all.' Then the accursed Iblis opened his tongue, He said, 'You, with such a head and beard, It disgusts me that you act like a beggar, Why do you claim to be God? Every moment you put on a jeweled beard, You desire a throne and place a crown on a bald head. With such a beard, when you become heated, This is your beard, ultimately, have you no shame? With such power in this wretched state, He (God) does not accept me in His servitude. Since you are both vitiliginous and bald to the ears, How will they accept you in divinity? Be silent! The infidel ego, which every hour I test in its obedience, I see it drowning in the sea of danger, Every breath I see it worse than bad. What this ominous dog does to me, I am an infidel if the infidel of Rome would do that. There is no one who is his own enemy like me, Who is more ignorant than me? No one. What happens to me has happened to no one, This arrogance has not yet departed. My fortune was but a dry cloud, The harvest of my life was but regret. The body that did not heal a single pain of mine, Became like a hair and did not diminish a hair. Alas, we lost our soul to the body, We did not recognize the value of the soul by a single atom. We all die thirsty in the storm, While the water is from the fountain of life for all. Neither a feast remains for the time of joy, Nor a light remains for the lamp of life. Where will we heal the pain? Life is gone, where will we mourn? Iron turned to blood because this pain arose in it, The heart which is of blood, why is it like iron? Until you become the focal point of pain, O son, How can you be called a man, O son? Whoever is not a thorn in his own eyes, Has no business with the unseen rose of his God. You go like his impoverished infidel, How can one go before Him like this? Since you keep the house empty of religion and heart, How will you go before God without religion and heart? Since your place in the house is for mourning, In such a place, how is your heart joyful?'
