شد مگر معشوق طوسی ناتوان
در عیادت رفت پیشش یک جوان

فاتحه آغاز کرد آنجایگاه
تا دمد بادی بران مجنون راه

گفت اگر دادم بخواهی داد تو
چون بخوانی بر حق افکن داد تو

هیچ درخور نیست این درویش را
جمله او را بایدم نه خویش را

هرچه هست و بود خواهد بود نیز
هست اورا جمله زیبا و عزیز

نقد بود آنجا همه چیزی ولیک
بندگی و ذل میبایست نیک

لاجرم در قالب آدم دمید
بندگی رادر خداوندی کشید

شور در بازار عالم اوفکند
جملهٔ آفاق در هم اوفکند

صد جهان بد پر خداوندی بزور
از جهان بندگی برخاست شور

English translation

It happened that the Beloved of Tus became weak, A young man went to him for a sick-visit. He began to recite the Fatiha there, So that he might blow a breath upon that madman of the path. He (the mystic) said, 'If you want to give me my due, When you recite, cast your plea upon God. Nothing is fitting for this dervish; I need Him entirely, not myself. Whatever is, and was, and also will be, Is entirely beautiful and precious to Him. Everything was readily present there, yet, Servitude and humility were thoroughly needed. Consequently, He breathed into the mold of Adam, He drew servitude into Lordship. He cast a commotion into the market of the world, He threw all the horizons into disarray. A hundred worlds were full of Lordship by force, From the world of servitude, a tumult arose.'
