یک کلیچه یافت آن سگ در رهی
ماه دید از سوی دیگر ناگهی

آن کلیچه بر زمین افکند سگ
تا بگیرد ماه بر گردون به تگ

چون بسی تک زد ندادش دست ماه
باز پس گردید و باز آمد به راه

آن کلیچه جست بسیاری نیافت
بار دیگر رفت و سوی مه شتافت

نه کلیچه دست می دادش نه ماه
از سر ره می شد او تا پای راه

در میان راه حیران مانده
گم شده نه این و نه آن مانده

تا چنین دردی نیاید در دلت
زندگی هرگز نگردد حاصلت

درد می باید ترا در هر دمی
اندکی نه عالمی در عالمی

تا مگر این درد ره پیشت برد
از وجود خویش بی خویشت برد

English translation

A dog found a small bread on a path, Suddenly, it saw the moon from another direction. The dog threw that small bread on the ground, To catch the moon in the sky by running. Since it ran a lot but could not reach the moon, It turned back and came again to the path. It searched for that small bread a lot but did not find it, Once again it went and rushed towards the moon. Neither the small bread came into its hands nor the moon, It would go from the beginning of the path to its end. Remaining bewildered in the middle of the path, Lost, left with neither this nor that. Until such a pain comes into your heart, Life will never be attained by you. You need pain in every breath, Not a little, but a world within a world. So that perhaps this pain will guide you forward, And take you from your own existence into selflessness.
