کافری پیش خلیل آمد فراز
گفت نانی ده بدین صاحب نیاز

گفت اگر مؤمن شوی وآئی براه
هرچه دل میخواهدت از من بخواه

این سخن کافر چو بشنود از خلیل
درگذشت اوحالی آمد جبرئیل

گفت حق میگوید این کافر مدام
از کجا میخورد تا اکنون طعام

او که چندین گاه نان مییافتست
ازخداوند جهان مییافتست

این زمان کو از درت نان خواه شد
تن زدی تا گرسنه در راه شد

چون توئی دایم خلیل کردگار
باخلیل خویش شو در جود یار

چون تو فارغ از بخیلی آمدی
جود کن چون در خلیلی آمدی

یا رب این انعام و بخشایش نگر
عین آرایش برآلایش نگر

با چنین فضلی ترا در پیشگاه
کی توان ترسید از بیم گناه

زآنکه آن دریا چو در جوش آیدت
نیک و بد جمله فراموش آیدت

English translation

A disbeliever came before Abraham, And said: 'Give a loaf of bread to this needy one.' Abraham said: 'If you become a believer and follow the path, Ask me for whatever your heart desires.' When the disbeliever heard these words from Abraham, He departed; immediately, Gabriel arrived. He said: 'God says: This disbeliever, constantly, Where has he been eating his food from until now? He who has been obtaining bread for all this time, Was obtaining it from the Lord of the world. Now that he has come to your door seeking bread, You withheld it until he went on his way hungry? Since you are always the Friend of the Creator, Align with your Friend in the generosity of the Beloved. Since you are free from stinginess, Show generosity, since you have attained the station of friendship.' O Lord, look at this bounty and forgiveness, Look at the essence of beauty over impurity. With such grace in Your presence, How could one fear the terror of sin? For when that ocean of mercy comes to boil, Both good and bad will be entirely forgotten by You.
