بیدل دیوانهٔ در حال شد
پیش دکان یکی بقال شد

گفت بر دکان چرا داری نشست
گفت تا آید مرا سودی بدست

گفت چبود سود گفتا آنکه زود
گر یکی داری دو گردد اینت سود

گفت کورست آن دلت دو ماحضر
گر یکی گردد ترا سود این شمر

کار تو بر عکس این افتاد نیک
نیستت توحید در شرکی ولیک

چون دل و گل هر دو در حق گم شود
آنگهی مردم بحق مردم شود

English translation

A mad mystic in a state of spiritual ecstasy went Before the shop of a grocer. He said, 'Why are you sitting in the shop?' He replied, 'So that I may gain a profit.' He asked, 'What is profit?' He said, 'That quickly, If you have one, it becomes two; this is profit.' He said, 'That heart of yours is blind; these two present things, If they become one, count this as your profit! Your affair has turned out completely the opposite, You have no Tawhid (monotheism), rather you are in Shirk (polytheism). When both heart and clay are lost in the Truth (God), Only then does a human truly become a human through the Truth.'
