Section 3 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

A master in the throes of death summoned a group, He said, "O righteous group, set my affairs straight." He assigned a different task to each one, He requested a need from every person. Since he saw no quarter left in his life, He was speaking those words very rapidly at that time. There was a frantic one at his bedside, Who said, "You are blind, you have no vision! That broth which you, in all circumstances, Have crumbled bread into for seventy years, How can you bring it all up in a single moment? Come on, stretch your legs and give up your soul quickly! In such a long life, O devoid of skill, Where were you, that you only just now became aware? Your entire life has been exactly like this, And even at this time, you are caught up in calculation and counting. You are dying; smile like a candle, and die! How long will this confusion last? Let it all go, and die!"
