English translation

A rubbish sweeper was wandering on the road, He was always sweeping straw in the king's street. A seeker asked him, 'O ambitious one, Why do you sweep rubbish in the king's lane, and nothing else?' He replied, 'So that all creations may know me, And they may all call me the king's rubbish-sweeper. For eternity, this bounty is cash enough for me; The name of being the king's lane sweeper is name enough for me.' The one who became my calling voice for this, Remember him with prayers from the sincerity of religion. At this moment, I do not worry much about speaking, As there is much silence lying ahead of me. Soon it will be that this soul and heart of mine Will seek separation from my water and clay. O brave man, if your heart desires, Make your way to my grave and weep for a moment. When you lament over the head of Attar, Sit down for a little and weep a lot. Inquire about my state dynamically in secret, So that I may answer you back from the grave. Ask of my state at that moment from the language of the state; Become deaf and ask of my state from a mute tongue. See my thirst beneath the dust, And send me a moment of water from your pure tears. Would that my name had never existed, So that my motion and rest would not have been. Whoever has this difficulty before them, Their heart can turn to blood, even if they had a hundred hearts. A hundred worlds of valiant souls have come, Yet they have ended up bewildered and helpless. From such an affair that has appeared before us, Knowledge has become bankrupt, and intellect has become a dervish.
