این سخن نقلست از نوشین روان
گفت اگر خواهی که رازت در جهان

دشمنت نشناسد از زشتی که اوست
تو به نیکوئی مگو در پیش دوست

گر درین پرده نگهداری نفس
هم نفس باشی و گرنه هیچکس

صبح اگر کشتی نفس را در دهان
کی رسیدی این بشولش در جهان

تا زفان سرخ دارد ساکنی
تو به سرسبزی نشسته ایمنی

چون زفان جنبان شود کام سیاه
برتو سر سبزی کند حالی تباه

هیچ عضوی بنده را روز شمار
مهر نکند جز دهن را کردگار

English translation

This saying is related from Nushirvan, He said, 'If you want your secret in the world Not to be known by your enemy, out of his ugliness, Do not speak of it, even in goodness, before a friend. If you hold your breath within this veil, You will be a true companion, otherwise, nobody. If morning had killed the breath in its mouth, When would this commotion have reached the world? As long as the red tongue remains still, You sit in safety and prosperity. When the tongue moves in the black palate, It immediately ruins your prosperity. No limb of the servant on the Day of Reckoning Will the Creator seal except the mouth.'
