خواجهٔ میرفت سر افراخته
بود در ره مبرزی پرداخته

بینی آنجا باستین محکم گرفت
دامن دراعه را در هم گرفت

بود مجنونی مگر در پیش راه
گفت بینی می مگیر اینجایگاه

کاین نجاست زود زود ای بیخبر
پیش تو آرند وگویندت بخور

میمگیر امروز ازو بینی فراز
زانکه این هم خوش خوری فردا بناز

آنچه فردا قوت عشرت باشدت
زو چرا امروز نفرت باشدت

ای میان خون و خلط آغشتگان
معدهٔ خود کرده گور کشتگان

گاه همچون سگ زهم می بردرند
گه چو گرگان میکشند ومیخورند

نعمتی طاهر نجاست میکنند
وآنگهی عزم ریاست میکنند

English translation

A master was walking with his head held high, There was an exposed privy on the path. He firmly covered his nose with his sleeve there, And gathered up the hem of his cloak. A madman happened to be on the path ahead, He said, 'Do not cover your nose in this place, For this filth, very soon, oh oblivious one, They will bring before you and say, Eat!' Do not turn your nose away from it today, Because tomorrow you will eat this same thing with pleasure. That which will be your food of delight tomorrow, Why do you have an aversion to it today? Oh you who are steeped in blood and bodily fluids, Having made your own stomachs graves for the slaughtered! Sometimes they tear each other apart like dogs, Sometimes they kill and eat like wolves. They turn pure food into filth, And then they resolve to rule!'
