یوسف صدیق در زندان شاه
دید روح القدس را آنجایگاه

گفت ای سر تاقدم جان نفیس
در چه کاری تو دراینجای خسیس

در میان عاصیان چون آمدی
کز کنار سدره بیرون آمدی

گفت پیشت آمدم ای رهنمای
تا بگویم من که میگوید خدای

تو چه بد دیدی ز ما کاین جایگاه
جستهٔ از ما بغیر ما پناه

مرد را خواندی چه خواهد بود نیز
تا برد پیغام تو سوی عزیز

چون بوددر کار رب العزه یار
کی گشاید از عزیز مصر کار

کی عزیز مصر داند کار تو
بس بود چون من عزیزی یار تو

یار تو چون من عزیزی کارساز
با عزیزی آن چنان گوئی تو راز

در عتاب اینت اگر من چند سال
حبس نکنم نه خدایم ذوالجلال

ناز معشوقان اگر آتش بود
تو بجان میکش که نازی خوش بود

English translation

Joseph the Truthful, in the king's prison, Saw the Holy Spirit [Gabriel] in that place. He said, 'O you who are a precious soul from head to toe, What is your business in this wretched place? How did you come among the sinners, Having departed from the edge of the Lote Tree?' He [Gabriel] said, 'I have come to you, O guide, So that I may tell you what God says: "What wrong did you see from Us, that in this place, You have sought refuge in someone other than Us? You called upon a mortal man; what will he be anyway, To take your message to the Aziz [of Egypt]? When the Lord of Glory is your helper in affairs, How can the Aziz of Egypt resolve the matter? When would the Aziz of Egypt understand your affair? It is enough that a Dear One [Aziz] like Me is your companion. With a Dear One like Me as your problem-solving companion, You tell your secret to such a [mortal] aziz! In reprimand for this, if for several years I do not imprison you, I am not God, the Lord of Majesty! Even if the coquetry of the Beloved is fire, Endure it with your soul, for it is a pleasant coquetry." '
