Section 5 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

There was a madman, drunk with love, Who went and sat upon the ashes. Every moment he would laugh happily, Gnawing on a bone contentedly. A questioner said to him, 'Come, tell me your state.' He said, 'I have wallowed in blood for seventy years, Until He sat me upon the ashes, And sat me at the door like a dog with a bone. Although, like a dog, I have no way to Him, I am happy that at least I am a dog of His street. If you can gain even a single connection to Him, You will make your soul perfect for eternity.'
