چون ز دنیا شد جنید پاک دین
پس جنازهش برگرفتند از زمین

پر زنان مرغی سپید از آسمان
بر جنازه او نشست اندر میان

خلق چندان کاستین افشاندند
مرغ را از نعش او میراندند

مرغ یک ذره از آنجا بر نخاست
لیک بگشاد او زفان در نطق راست

گفت ای ارباب ذوق و اهل دین
چند رنجانید خود را بیش ازین

زانکه شد مسمار عشقی آشکار
بر جنیدم دوخت تا روز شمار

قالب او حصه کروبیانست
لیک پای خلق این دم در میانست

گر نبودی زحمت و شور شما
قالبش با ما پریدی در هوا

قالبش ماراست قلبش آن دوست
مغز آن اوست وان ماست پوست

گر شود یک ذره از قلبش پدید
بس بود قفل دو عالم را کلید

صد جهان پر فرشته هر نفس
تشنهٔ بوئی شدند از پیش وپس

تشنه میمیرند در دریا همه
گوئیا دارند استسقا همه

English translation

When Junayd of pure faith departed from the world, They then lifted his coffin from the ground. Flapping its wings, a white bird from the sky, Sat upon his coffin in the middle. However much the people waved their sleeves, And drove the bird away from his bier, The bird did not rise from there one bit, But it opened its tongue in truthful speech. It said, 'O masters of spiritual taste and people of faith, How much more will you trouble yourselves? Because a manifest nail of love, Has stitched me to Junayd until the Day of Reckoning. His body is the portion of the cherubim, But the people's feet are in the way at this moment. If not for your trouble and commotion, His body would have flown into the air with us. His body is ours, his heart belongs to that Friend, The marrow is His, and ours is the skin. If a single particle of his heart becomes visible, It would suffice as the key to the lock of both worlds. A hundred worlds full of angels, every breath, Have become thirsty for a scent, from front and back. They all die thirsty in the sea, As if they all suffer from dropsy.'
