گرم شد یک روز شیخ بایزید
گفت اگر خواهد خداوند مجید

مدت هفتاد سالم را شمار
من ازو خواهم شمار ده هزار

زانکه سالی ده هزار ست از عدد
تا «الست ربکم » گفته ست احد

جمله را در شور آورد از الست
وز «بلی » شان جز بلا نامد به دست

هر بلا کان در زمین و آسمان ست
از بلی گفتن نشان دوستان ست

بعد از آن گفتا که می آید خطاب
کاین سخن چون گفته شد بشنو جواب

هفت اندامت کنم روز شمار
جزو جزو و ذره ذره چون غبار

پس به هر یک ذره دیدار ت دهم
در خور هر دیدهٔ بارت دهم

ده هزاران ساله را نقد شمار
گویمت اینک نهادم در کنار

تا به هر یک ذره کاری می کنی
این چنین کن گر شماری می کنی

هرکه را آن آفتاب اینجا بتافت
آنچه آنجا وعده بود اینجا بیافت

English translation

One day Sheikh Bayazid became impassioned, He said, "If the Glorious Lord wishes To reckon my span of seventy years, I will ask Him for a reckoning of ten thousand. For a year is ten thousand in number, Since the One said, 'Am I not your Lord?' He threw everyone into turmoil from 'Am I not', And from their 'Yes' (bala), nothing but affliction (bala) came to their hand. Every affliction that exists in the earth and sky, Is the mark of friends for having said 'Yes'. After that, he said an address is coming: Since this word was spoken, hear the answer: 'On the Day of Reckoning, I will make your seven limbs, Part by part and atom by atom, like dust. Then I will grant vision to your every single atom, In proportion to every eye I will grant you audience. Reckon the ten thousands of years in cash, I will say to you, "Here I have placed it at your side." So that with every single atom you perform a task, Act like this if you are making a reckoning.' Whomever that sun shone upon here, Whatever was promised there, he found here.
