پادشاهی در رهی میشد پگاه
خاک بیزی میگذشت آنجایگاه

پس زفان بگشاده بود آن خاک بیز
کای خدا بر فرق کردم خاک ریز

گر مرا بایست رفتن سوی کار
تاکنون در کار بودم بی قرار

ور پگه بایست کردن عزم راه
کار را برخاستم اینک پگاه

آنچه بر من بود آوردم بجای
کار اکنون با تو افتاد ای خدای

شاه خوش شد از حدیث خاک بیز
گفت گیر این بدره در غربال ریز

چون پگاهی کار را بشتافتی
آنچه جستی بیشتر زان یافتی

English translation

A king was walking on a path early at dawn, A sifter of dust was passing by that place. Then the dust-sifter began to speak: 'O God, I have poured dust upon my head. If I needed to set out for work, Until now, I have been restlessly working. And if I needed to resolve to hit the road early, I have risen for work, now early at dawn. What was my duty, I have accomplished; The matter now lies with You, O God.' The king was delighted by the words of the dust-sifter; He said, 'Take this purse of gold and pour it in your sieve. Since you hastened to work so early at dawn, You have found much more than what you sought.'
