بود مجنونی نکردی یک نماز
کرد یک روزی نماز آغاز باز

سایلی گفتش که ای شوریده رای
گوئیا خشنودی امروز از خدای

کاین چنین گرمی بطاعت کردنش
سر نمیپیچی ز فرمان بردنش

گفت آری گرسنه بودم چو شیر
چون مرا امروز حق کردست سیر

میگزارم پیش او نیکو نماز
زآنکه او با من نکوئی کرد ساز

کار گو چون مردمان کن هر زمان
تا کنم من نیز هم چون مردمان

عشق میبارد ازین شیوه سخن
خواه تو انکار کن خواهی مکن

شرع چون دیوانه را آزاد کرد
تو به انکارش نیاری یاد کرد

English translation

There was a madman who would not perform a single prayer. One day, he began to pray once again. A questioner said to him, 'O troubled mind, It seems you are pleased with God today, Since you are so warm in worshipping Him, And you do not turn your head from obeying Him.' He said, 'Yes, I was hungry like a lion; Since God has fed me to satisfaction today, I perform a beautiful prayer before Him, Because He has provided goodness for me. Tell [Him] to act like people at all times, So that I too may act like people.' Love rains down from this manner of speech, Whether you deny it or not. Since the religious law has freed the madman, You should not mention him with denial.
