در رهی میرفت مجنونی عجب
بود پای و سر برهنه خشک لب

شد ز سرما و گل ره بیقرار
سر ببالا کرد و گفت ای کردگار

یا دلم ده باز تا چند از بلا
یا نه باری ژنده کفشی ده مرا

English translation

A strange madman was walking on a path, He was barefoot and bareheaded, with dry lips. He became restless from the cold and the mud of the path, He raised his head and said, 'O Creator, Either give me back my heart; how much longer this affliction? Or if not, at least give me a worn-out shoe.'
