پیش آن دیوانه شد مردی جوان
گفت دارم پیرمردی ناتوان
فاتحه برخوان برای آن ضعیف
تا شفا بخشد خداوند لطیف
چوب را برداشت آن دیوانه زود
گفت بیرون نه قدم زین خانه زود
انبیا و اهل گورستان همه
منتظر بنشسته اند ایشان همه
تاکسی آنجا رود زین جایگاه
تو چرا می باز گردانی ز راه
ای دل آخر میبباید مرد زار
کار کن کامروز داری روزگار
بر پل دنیا چه منزل میکنی
خیز اگر ره توشهٔ حاصل میکنی
English translation
A young man approached that madman, Saying, "I have a feeble old man. Recite a Fatiha for that frail one, So that the Subtle Lord may grant him healing." The madman quickly picked up his stick, And said, "Step out of this house quickly! The prophets and the inhabitants of the graveyard, All of them are sitting in wait, For someone to go there from this place; Why are you turning him back from the path?" O heart, ultimately one must miserably die! Work, for today you have the time. Why do you make your dwelling upon the bridge of the world? Arise, if you are to gather provisions for the journey!
