آن یکی را دیگری سخت
بز گرفتی تو مرا ای شور بخت

گفت مجنونیش چون هستی تو خر
گر بزی بیشت نگیرد غم مخور

هرکه او صورت پرستی پیشه کرد
کی تواند از صفت اندیشه کرد

اصل صورت نفس شهوانی تست
اصل معنی جان روحانی تست

ترک صورت گیر در عشق صفت
تا بتابد آفتاب معرفت

صورتت جز خلط و خونی بیش نیست
مرد صورت مرد دور اندیش نیست

هرچه آن از خلط و خون زیبا بود
مبتلای آن شدی سودا بود

English translation

One person said to another harshly, "You took me for a goat, O ill-fated one!" The madman said to him, "Since you are a donkey, If he takes you for no more than a goat, do not worry." Whoever makes form-worship his profession, How can he contemplate the attributes? The essence of form is your carnal soul, The essence of meaning is your spiritual soul. Abandon form in the love of attributes, So that the sun of gnosis may shine. Your form is nothing more than phlegm and blood, A man of form is not a farsighted man. Whatever is beautiful made of phlegm and blood, If you become afflicted by it, it is madness.
