عیسی مریم به غاری رفته بود
در میان غار مردی خفته بود

گفت برخیز ای ز عالم بی خبر
کار کن تا توشهٔ یابی مگر

گفت من کار دو عالم کرده ام
تا ابد ملکی مسلم کرده ام

گفت هین کار تو چیست ای مرد راه
گفت دنیا شد مرا یکبرگ کاه

جملهٔ دنیا به نانی میدهم
نان به سگ چون استخوانی میدهم

مدتی شد تا ز دنیا فارغم
نیستم من طفل بازی بالغم

بالغم با لعب و با لهوم چکار
فارغم با غفلت و سهوم چکار

عیسی مریم چو بشنود این سخن
گفت اکنون هرچه میخواهی بکن

چون ز دنیا فارغی آزاد خفت
خواب خوش بادت بخفت و شاد خفت

چون ز دنیا نیستت غمخوارگی
کرده داری کارها یکبارگی

English translation

Jesus, son of Mary, had gone to a cave, In the middle of the cave, a man was asleep. He said, 'Arise, O you unaware of the world, Work, so that perhaps you may find provisions.' He said, 'I have done the work of both worlds, I have secured a realm for eternity.' He said, 'Look, what is your work, O man of the path?' He said, 'The world has become a single blade of straw to me. I would give the whole world for a loaf of bread, I would give the bread to a dog like a bone. It has been a while since I am free from the world, I am not a playing child, I am an adult. I am an adult, what do I have to do with play and amusement? I am free, what do I have to do with negligence and oversight?' When Jesus, son of Mary, heard these words, He said, 'Now do whatever you wish. Since you are free from the world, sleep freely, May you have a pleasant sleep, sleep and sleep joyfully. Since you have no sorrow for the world, You have done all the work at once.'
