Section 7 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

The king gave the viziership to that stranger, He found wealth and status in the ministry for a lifetime. Eventually, when old age took its toll, That minister requested permission to leave. He said, 'I want to choose seclusion, Because I fear death, O King. May the proud king not forbid it, So that I may return from here to my own place. I will spend my days and nights in obedience to God, Then I will pray for you every hour.' The king told him, 'When you first arrived, You came idle and empty-handed. Surrender all that you have to the king, Leave this place just like the first day. Since you came here empty-handed, Will you leave with all this treasure then?' The man said, 'Though I managed the ministry, I lost the cash of my life in your path. Give me back my cash, and take yours, Otherwise, be silent and abandon yours. Who knows what a very precious cash I also lost in the path of your kingdom. Since your entire capital was your life, Why did you throw your life to the wind so soon? When such a capital is gone from your hands, Whatever was or is yours is gone. What do you know of the value of life, O nobody? The dead alone know the value of life well. You too, go ask the inhabitants of the graveyard, To see what they say about precious life.'
