بود مجنونی چو در کار آمدی
گاه گاهی سوی بازار آمدی

در نظاره آمدی حیران و مست
چست بگرفتی سر بینی بدست

آن یکی گفتش که ای شوریده دین
بینی از بهر چه میگیری چنین

گفت این شمغندی بازاریان
سخت میدارد دماغم را زیان

گفت در بازار پس کم کن نشست
گفت نتوان چون مهم کاریم هست

جمله آن خواهم که بینم روز روز
مردم بازار را در تفت و سوز

English translation

There was a madman who, when engaged in his affairs, Would occasionally come to the bazaar. He would come to watch, bewildered and intoxicated, And tightly pinch the tip of his nose in his hand. Someone said to him, 'O you of disturbed faith, Why do you hold your nose like this?' He said, 'This foul stench of the bazaar merchants, Severely harms my brain.' The man said, 'Then spend less time sitting in the bazaar.' He said, 'I cannot, for I have an important task. I want to see it all, day by day, The people of the bazaar in their toil and burning.'
