کاملی گفته ست آن بیگانه را
کاخر ای خر چند روبی خانه را

چند داری روی خانه پاک تو
خانه چاهی کن برافکن خاک تو

تا چو خاک تیره برگیری ز راه
چشمهٔ روشن برون جوشد ز چاه

آب نزدیکست چندینی متاب
چون فرو بردی دو گز خاک اینت آب

کار باید کرد مرد کار نیست
ورنه تا آب از تو ره بسیار نیست

ای دریغا روبهی شد شیر تو
تشنه میمیری ودریا زیر تو

تشنه ازدریا جدائی میکنی
بر سر گنجی گدائی میکنی

ای عجب چندان ملک در دردورنج
بر سر گنجند و میجویند گنج

تا نیامد جان آدم آشکار
ره ندانستند سوی کردگار

ره پدید آمد چو آدم شد پدید
زو کلید هر دو عالم شد پدید

آنچه حمله عرش میپنداشتند
تا بتوفیق خدا برداشتند

آن دل پر نور آدم بود و بس
زانکه آدم هر دو عالم بود و بس

English translation

A perfect one said to that stranger: "Oh donkey, how long will you sweep the house? How long will you keep the surface of the house clean? Dig a well in the house, throw out the dirt! So that when you remove the dark earth from the way, A bright spring boils up from the well. Water is near, do not turn away so much; When you dig down two yards of earth, here is water! Work must be done, but there is no man of work, Otherwise, the path to the water from you is not far. Alas, your lion has become a fox; You die of thirst while the sea is beneath you. Thirsty, you separate yourself from the sea; You beg while sitting on a treasure! Oh wonder, so many kings in pain and suffering, Are sitting on a treasure and seeking treasure. Until the soul of Adam became manifest, They did not know the path to the Creator. The path appeared when Adam appeared, Through him, the key to both worlds appeared. That which the bearers of the Throne imagined, Until they lifted it by the grace of God, Was just the luminous heart of Adam and nothing else, Because Adam was both worlds and nothing else."
