شد بگورستان یکی دیوانه کیش
ده جنازه پیشش آوردند بیش

تا که بر یک مرده کردندی نماز
مردهٔ دیگر رسید از پی فراز

هر زمانی مردهٔ دیگر رسید
تا یکی بردند دیگر در رسید

مرد مجنون گفت بر مرده نماز
چند باید کرد کاریست این دراز

کی توان بر یک بیک تکبیر کرد
جمله را باید کنون تدبیر کرد

هرچه در هر دو جهان دون خداست
بر همه تکبیر باید کرد راست

بر در هر مردهٔ نتوان نشست
چار تکبیری بکن بر هر چه هست

ورنه دنیا زود مردارت کند
مرده تر از خویش صد بارت کند

نقد دنیا گرچه بسیاری بود
چون ز دستت رفت مرداری بود

English translation

A certain madman went to the graveyard, They brought more than ten corpses before him. By the time they prayed over one dead body, Another dead body arrived immediately after. Every moment another dead body arrived, As soon as they carried one away, another arrived. The madman said, "Prayers for the dead, How many times must they be done? This is a long task! How can one say the Takbir for each one individually? One must devise a plan for all of them now. Whatever is in both worlds other than God, One must truly say the Takbir over all of them. One cannot sit at the door of every dead person, Say four Takbirs over whatever exists. Otherwise, the world will soon make a corpse of you, It will make you a hundred times more dead than yourself. Though the cash of the world may be plentiful, Once it is gone from your hands, it is a corpse."
