Section 7 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

There was in Jamshid's kitchen, oh wonder, A pot and a bowl in enmity day and night. The pot was of stone, it intended war, The bowl was golden, it intended the stone. Both of them in anger became agitated, They were stone and gold, they came into force. The pot said to it, "Whether it's stew or oil, Salty or sweet, whatever there is, is mine. How can your work find order without me? If I don't give it to you, you'll stay empty forever. You first become apparent from the stone, Then again they strike you on the touchstone in assessing your purity. If you do not have stone/weight in your nature, You will forever fall without weight/value. You are so beautiful and heavy because of me, You are colorful with weight and understanding because of me. No one calls me black pot by name, Since you are a black bowl (ungrateful/stingy) in every place. Since you have heard this pleasant reasoning, Do not reach out into the bowl like me anymore." When these words came to the bowl's ear, Like a pot, its blood came to a boil. It said, "From whatever you've said, more or less, I am free, for I am before Jamshid. Arise, let us take ourselves to the moneychangers, So that between the two of us, which one is superior. When the touchstone appears to the moneychanger, The touchstone itself will speak the answer to this boasting. You will see at the time of pledging, between stone and gold, Which of these two is more valuable. In the pledge, the old becomes apparent from the new, Deeds become apparent at the time of the pledge. Until you bring a journey within yourself before you, When will you reach your own essence by yourself? If you find the way to your own essence completely, You will constantly find the holy ones to be your branches. But until there is a journey within yourself for you, In truth, you will not have this sight."
