بوسعید مهنه با مردان راه
بود روزی در میان خانقاه

مستی آمد اشک ریزان بیقرار
تا در آن خانقاه آشفته وار

پرده از ناسازگاری باز کرد
گریه و بد مستئی آغاز کرد

شیخ کو را دید آمد در برش
ایستاد از روی شفقت بر سرش

گفت هان ای مست اینجا کم ستیز
از چه میباشی بمن ده دست خیز

مست گفت ای حق تعالی یار تو
نیست شیخا دست گیری کار تو

تو سر خود گیر و رفتی مردوار
سر فرو رفته مرا با او گذار

گر ز هر کس دستگیری آیدی
مور در صدر امیری آیدی

دستگیری نیست کار تو برو
نیستم من در شمار تو برو

شیخ درخاک اوفتاد از درد او
سرخ گشت از اشک روی زرد او

ای همه تو ناگزیر من تو باش
اوفتادم دستگیر من تو باش

ای جهانی خلق مور خاکیت
پاک دامن کن مرا از پاکیت

برامیدی آمد این درویش تو
چون بنومیدی رود از پیش تو

English translation

Abu Sa'id of Mehne, with the men of the Path, Was one day in the midst of the Sufi convent. A drunkard came, shedding tears and restless, Into that convent, in a distracted state. He pulled back the curtain on disharmony, And began to weep and act rowdy. When the Sheikh saw him, he approached him, And stood above him out of compassion. He said, 'O drunk, fight less here! What is the matter with you? Give me your hand to rise.' The drunkard said, 'May the Almighty God be your helper! O Sheikh, helping and holding hands is not your business. Go your own way and walk like a man; Leave me, who am deeply sunk in myself, to Him. If hand-holding could come from anyone, An ant would sit on the throne of leadership. Holding hands is not your business, go! I am not among your count, go!' The Sheikh fell upon the dust from his pain, And his pale face became red from his tears. 'O You Who are my everything, be my necessity! I have fallen, be my helper! O You Whose earthly ants are the creation of an entire world, Purify my skirt through Your purity. This dervish of Yours came with hope, How could he go away from You in despair?'
