بود مردی از عرب در کار خام
خوش به پنج انگشت میخوردی طعام

سائلی گفتش که ای بر بینوا
هین مرا آگاه گردان تا چرا

تو به پنج انگشت خوردی این طعام
گفت زان کانگشت شش نیست ای غلام

گر بجای پنج شش بودی مرا
هر شش من بارکش بودی مرا

گر هزاران دیده داری ای غلام
آن نظر را باید آن جمله مدام

گر شود هردو جهان زیر و زبر
بس بود هر دو جهان را آن نظر

گر شود هر دو جهان در خاک پست
تا ابد این خاکیان را کار هست

خاک را چون کار با پاک اوفتاد
پیش آدم عرش در خاک اوفتاد

English translation

There was an Arab man, raw in his ways, Who would happily eat food with five fingers. An inquirer asked him, "O destitute one, Come, make me aware why You eat this food with five fingers?" He said, "Because there is no sixth finger, O boy. If instead of five I had six, All six would serve as my carriers." If you have thousands of eyes, O boy, That vision constantly requires all of them. Even if both worlds turn upside down, That vision suffices for both worlds. If both worlds are reduced to lowly dust, Until eternity, these earthly beings have work to do. Since dust had a dealing with the Pure One, Before Adam, the Divine Throne fell into the dust.
