دیر میآمد یکی از آب باز
صوفیان کرده زفان در وی دراز

بوسعید مهنه گفت ای مردمان
آب چون آرد فلانی این زمان

زانکه آب خوش که آن روزی ماست
درنیامد تا شدی این کار راست

چون درآید برکشد آن آب مرد
چون توان بیوقت هرگز آب خورد

حکم او راست و نگهدار اوست بس
در نگهداری نکوکار اوست بس

English translation

Someone was late returning from fetching water, The Sufis began to speak ill of him and complain. Abu Sa'id of Mehneh said, "O people! How can that person bring water at this moment? For the sweet water that is our destined provision, Had not flowed in yet for this task to be completed. When it flows in, that man will draw the water; How can one ever drink water before its appointed time? His decree is righteous, and He alone is the Protector, In His care, He alone is the ultimate Benefactor."
