آن سگی مرده براه افتاده بود
مرگ دندانش ز هم بگشاده بود

بوی ناخوش زان سگ الحق میدمید
عیسی مریم چو پیش او رسید

همرهی را گفت این سگ آن اوست
و آن سپیدی بین که در دندان اوست

نه بدی نه زشت بوئی دید او
و آن همه زشتی نکوئی دید او

پاک بینی پیشه کن گر بندهٔ
پاک بین گر بندهٔ بینندهٔ

جمله را یک رنگ و یک مقدار بین
مار مهره بین نه مهره ماربین

هم نکوئی هم نکوکاری گزین
مهربانی و وفاداری گزین

گر خدا را میشناسی بنده باش
حق گزار نعمت دارنده باش

نعمت او میخوری در سال و ماه
حق آن نعمت نمیداری نگاه

English translation

A dead dog had fallen on the path, Death had parted its teeth. In truth, a foul stench rose from that dog. When Jesus, son of Mary, came before it, He said to a companion, 'This dog is His, And see that whiteness that is in its teeth.' He saw neither badness nor foul stench, And in all that ugliness, he saw goodness. Make pure-seeing your practice if you are a servant, See purely if you are a seeing servant. See all as having one color and one value, See the snake's pearl, do not see the pearl's snake. Choose both goodness and doing good, Choose kindness and loyalty. If you know God, be a servant, Be grateful for the blessings of the Provider. You consume His blessings year and month, Yet you do not uphold the right of that blessing.
