صوفئی رادید یک روزی نظام
در وفا و عهد و در صفوت تمام

گفت از من هرچه میخواهی بخواه
زآنکه تو محتاجی و من پادشاه

گفت چون از حق نخواهم هیچ چیز
از تو هم الحق نخواهم هیچ نیز

گفت اگر چیزی نمیباید ترا
حاجتی کن آن من باری روا

آن نفس خالص که با حق باشدت
کان نفس ملکی محقق باشدت

آن نفس گر یاد آری از نظام
آن نفس جاوید او را میتمام

صوفیش گفت اینت مرد بی خبر
آن نفس گر با خدای دادگر

نقد من گردد مرا بیرون کند
آنکه نبود هیچ یادت چون کند

چون من آنجا در نگنجم بیشکی
چون توانم رفت آنجا اندکی

گنج موئی نیست کس را آن زمان
گر همه موئی نگنجی در میان

من چو برخیزم در آن ساعت ز راه
دیگری را چون برم آنجایگاه

English translation

One day, Nizam saw a Sufi, Complete in loyalty, covenant, and purity. He said, "Ask from me whatever you desire, Because you are needy, and I am a king." He (the Sufi) said, "Since I ask nothing from God, From you too, in truth, I ask nothing at all." He (Nizam) said, "If you need nothing for yourself, At least fulfill this one need of mine. That pure breath when you are with God, For that breath is a verified kingdom to you, In that breath, if you remember Nizam, That breath will complete him for eternity." The Sufi told him, "What an ignorant man you are! That breath, if with the Just God, Becomes my reality, it takes me out of myself; He who is no more, how can he remember you? Since I undoubtedly do not fit in there, How can I go there even a little bit? There is no room for a hair for anyone at that time, Even if you are a hair, you cannot fit in between. When I am removed from the path at that hour, How can I take another to that place?"
