در رهی میشد سلیمان با سپاه
دید جفتی صعوه را یک جایگاه

هر دو عشق یکدگر میباختند
هر دو با دل سوختن میساختند

گاه این یک ناز کرد و گاه آن
گاه این آغاز کرد و گاه آن

صعوهٔ عاشق زفان بگشاد و گفت
تو به نیکوئی مرا طاقی و جفت

هرچه فرمودی چنان کردم همه
کارهای تو بجان کردم همه

ور دگر فرمائیم فرمان کنم
هرچه تو حکمم کنی از جان کنم

گر توام گوئی فرو آرم بخود
قبهٔ ملک سلیمان از لگد

چون سلیمان رفت با ایوان خویش
گفت تا آن صعوه را خواندند پیش

صعوه چون آمد بدید آن کار و بار
شد ز لرزیدن چو برقی بیقرار

پس سلیمان گفت چندینی ملاف
صعوهٔ را لاف مه از کوه قاف

تو که قادر نیستی یک حبه را
از لگد چون بشکنی این قبه را

از سلیمان صعوه چون بشنود راز
گفت ای در دین و دنیا سرفراز

نامهٔ ناموس عاشق را مدام
مهری از یطوی و لایحکی تمام

عاشقان از بس که غیرت داشتند
جان خود را غرق حیرت داشتند

از سر جان پاک بر میخاستند
هرچه شان بایست در میخواستند

English translation

Solomon was traveling on a road with his army He saw a pair of finches in a certain place Both were playing the game of love with each other Both were making do with burning hearts Sometimes this one acted coquettishly, and sometimes that one Sometimes this one initiated, and sometimes that one The lover finch opened his tongue and said, "In goodness, you are my unequaled one and my mate Whatever you ordered, I have done it all I have done all your tasks with my soul And if you command me again, I will obey Whatever you decree for me, I will do from my soul If you tell me to, I will bring down The dome of Solomon's kingdom with a kick" When Solomon went to his palace He ordered them to summon that finch before him When the finch arrived and saw that grandeur He became restless, trembling like lightning Then Solomon said, "Do not boast so much A boast from a finch greater than Mount Qaf? You who do not have power over a single grain How will you break this dome with a kick?" When the finch heard these words from Solomon He said, "O exalted one in religion and the world! The scroll of a lover's honor constantly bears A complete seal of 'it is folded away and not recounted' Lovers, because they possessed so much protective jealousy Kept their own souls drowned in bewilderment They completely washed their hands of their lives And whatever they desired, they dared to request"
