رفت یک روزی مگر بهلول مست
در بر هارون و بر تختش نشست

خیل او چندان زدندش چوب و سنگ
کز تن او خون روان شد بیدرنگ

چون بخورد آن چوب بگشاد او زفان
گفت هارون را که ای شاه جهان

یک زمان کاین جایگه بنشسته ام
از قفا خوردن ببین چون خسته ام

تو که اینجا کردهٔ عمری نشست
بس که یک یک بند خواهندت شکست

یک نفس را من بخوردم آن خویش
وای بر تو زانچه خواهی داشت پیش

English translation

One day, the intoxicated Bahlool happened to go Before Harun and sat upon his throne. His guards struck him with so many sticks and stones That blood immediately flowed from his body. When he suffered those blows, he began to speak, He said to Harun, "O King of the World! For the one moment I sat in this place, See how wounded I am from taking blows to the back of the neck. You, who have sat here for a lifetime, How they will surely break every single one of your joints! For one breath, I received my punishment, Woe unto you for what you will have to face!"
