Section 3 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

There is a little bird, standing, swift, and dedicated to its work; It has no rest on its branch like other birds. All night until day, it is crying out, Hanging itself by a single foot. All night it exhibits restlessness, Softly and sweetly making its plaintive wail. Since its task is not accomplished all night long, A single drop of blood drips from its beak. When a single drop of blood leaves its heart, Its heart becomes like an ocean from that drop of blood. An uproar falls into the ocean from that single drop, And a fire falls into the desert from that uproar. Then, the next night, it returns to its work, And in the same way, it raises its plaintive cry. Since that work of its has neither beginning nor end, How will its plaintive wails ever reach their destination? Until a task befalls you in a manly fashion, How can you wail from the pain of the work?
