Section 6 - On Admonishing the King and Speaking the Word of Truth Without Flattery

Original content

English translation

O you who are higher than fairness and justice, Your judgment is more exalted than highness itself. I shall speak a word to you, listen to it in truth: Do not blindly walk on a narrow and dark path. Everyone comes according to their own custom, Praising you year and month. Do not be deceived by those sweet words, And do not boast of justice like the impure. Justice indeed has several indispensable conditions, When those conditions are not met, the covenant is broken. Everyone, for their own benefit, Praises you in different separate ways. Beware, beware! Do not be deceived, For they are not worth a bunch of herbs. I am not a flatterer like others, Nor do I present the absurdities of desire. If for a single night, in the entire world, a suffering person Exists, even a single soul, you are not excused. If a dog, a tyrant, a wicked or ominous person, Inflicts harm upon an oppressed one, You will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection, And at that time, your regret will not soothe your pain. Justice has departed and nothing but corruption remains, Trust has vanished in the entire world. Do not rely on anyone as steadfast, Do your own duty, and rely on no companion.
