ابن ادهم چون ادا کردی نماز
دست بنهادی به روی خویش باز

روی گفتی من بپوشم از خطر
تاب رویم باز نتوان زد مگر

زآنکه میدانم که دست بی نیاز
باز خواهد زد به روی من نماز

English translation

When Ibn Adham performed his prayer, He would place his hands over his face. He would say, 'I cover my face out of fear, So that it might not be thrown back at my face, perhaps; For I know that the Hand of the Independent One, Will throw my prayer back into my face.'
