برد مجنون را سوی کعبه پدر
تادعا گوید شفا یابد مگر

چون رسید آنجایگه مجنون ز راه
گفت اینجا کن دعا اینجایگاه

گو خداوندا مرا بی درد کن
عشق لیلی بر دل من سرد کن

تو دعا کن تا پدر آمین کند
بوکه حق این مهربانی کین کند

دست برداشت آن زمان مجنون مست
گفت یارب عشق لیلی زآنچه هست

میتوانی کرد و صد چندان کنی
هر زمانم بیش سرگردان کنی

درد عشق او چو افزون گرددت
هرچه داری تا بدل خون گرددت

چون همه عالم شود همرنگ خون
زآن همه خون یک دلت آید برون

آن دل آنگه در حضور افتد مدام
شادی دل تا ابد گردد تمام

English translation

The father took Majnun towards the Kaaba, So that he might pray and perhaps be cured. When Majnun arrived at that place from the road, The father said, 'Pray here in this place.' Say: 'O Lord, make me free of pain, And make the love of Layla cold in my heart.' You pray so that your father may say Amen, In the hope that God will show this kindness.' At that moment, the intoxicated Majnun raised his hand, And said: 'O Lord, the love of Layla, more than what it is, You can increase it and make it a hundred times more, And make me more bewildered at every moment. When the pain of her love increases within you, Until everything you possess turns into the heart's blood, When the entire world becomes the color of blood, Out of all that blood, a single heart will emerge for you. That heart will then remain forever in the Divine Presence, And the joy of the heart will be completed for eternity.'
