بود ملاحی معمر کار دان
زو کسی پرسید کای بسیار دان

از عجایبهای دریا بازگوی
گفتش آن ملاح کای اسرار جوی

این عجبتر دیدهام من کز بحار
در سلامت کشتی آید باکنار

کشتئی بر روی غرقابی مدام
موج میآید دمادم بر دوام

ما میان موج و غرقابی سیاه
منتظر تا باد چون آید ز راه

بر نیاید هیچ کاری از حیل
و اطلاعی نیست بر لوح ازل

پس طریق تو بفرمان رفتن است
بیخودی در وادی جان رفتن است

بنده آن بهتر که بر فرمان رود
کز خداوند آنچه خواهد آن رود

English translation

There was an aged, experienced sailor, Someone asked him, 'O you of great knowledge! Tell of the wonders of the sea.' That sailor said to him, 'O seeker of secrets! This is the most wondrous thing I have seen from the seas: That a ship comes to the shore in safety. A ship constantly upon a whirlpool, With waves coming continuously and perpetually. We are between the waves and a dark whirlpool, Waiting for how the wind will arrive from the path. No action can be accomplished through trickery, And there is no knowledge of the Tablet of Eternity. Therefore, your path is to go by command (submission), To go selflessly in the valley of the soul. A servant is better off walking by command, For whatever God wills, that will come to pass.'
