Section 10 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

When Noah the prophet was saved from the infidels, With forty people, he settled on a mountain. One of those forty was a potter, He opened a shop full of pots. Gabriel came, saying, "God says, 'Break these pots, O guide.'" Noah told him, "One cannot break them all, For he obtained them with a hundred heart's bloods. Although if you break the pot, the clay breaks, In truth, the man's heart breaks." Gabriel came again and gave him a message, He said, "Your Lord sends you greetings. Then He says this, 'O fortunate one, If breaking a few pots is so hard, Find this altogether much harder, That by a prayer, you gave the people to the water. You directed your resolve against them all, You said "leave not" and left no one. To break one shop of pots is a mistake, But to kill a world full of people is permissible? Did your heart allow it, O great Sheikh, To bring destruction upon all those people? Because for those restless servants, Our grace wept so bitterly, That now its eyes have caught fire from weeping, Do not get angry over this many pots.'" O Lord, what kind of favor is this? What kind of gratitude within complaining is this? That He reproaches souls so much, Sometimes He turns souls into countless blood. He called hundreds of thousands of aimless ones, He seated them all in the ship of bewilderment. After that, He cast the ship into the sea, He threw a hundred worlds of souls into tumult. After that, opposing winds day and night, He would send around the ship, oh wonder. Until in that endless sea, they all, Entirely gave up their lives. Their breath was completely severed in the sea, Of them all, no one surfaced. Although it became an obligation to make dying a habit, I do not have the gall to entertain this thought.
