گفت با مجنون شبی لیلی براز
کای بعشق من ز عقل افتاده باز
تا توانی با خرد بیگانه باش
عقل را غارت کن و دیوانه باش
زآنک اگر تو عاقل آئی سوی من
زخم بسیاری خوری در کوی من
لیک اگر دیوانه آئی در شمار
هیچکس را با تو نبود هیچ کار
English translation
One night, Layla secretly said to Majnun, 'O you who have fallen from reason because of your love for me, As much as you can, be a stranger to intellect, Plunder reason and be a madman. For if you come to me as a sane person, You will suffer many wounds in my alley. But if you are counted as a madman, No one will have any business with you.'
