Section 8 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

Jesus, son of Mary, had fallen asleep, He had placed half a brick under his head. When Jesus opened his eyes from sweet sleep, He saw the accursed Iblis above him. He said, "O accursed one, why are you standing?" He said, "You have placed my brick under your head. The entire world is like my fiefdom, That brick is mine, this is clear. As long as you take possession in my realm, You have brought yourself into my ranks." Jesus threw it away from under his head, He placed his face on the dust and resolved to sleep. When he threw that half brick, Iblis said, "I am leaving now, you sleep peacefully now. Since you will eventually fall behind the brick of the grave, Why would you lay brick upon brick? Since you make clay from the bloody tears of the heart, Why do you make clay for the sake of the world?"
