رفت دزدی در سرای رابعه
خفته بود آن مرغ صاحب واقعه

چادرش برداشت راه در نیافت
باز بنهاد و بسوی در شتافت

بازبرداشت و بیامد ره ندید
باز چون بنهاد شد درگه پدید

گشت عاجز هاتفیش آواز داد
گفت چادر باید این دم باز داد

زانکه گر شد دوستی درخواب مست
دوستی دیگر چنین بیدار هست

چادرش بنهی اگر در بایدت
ورنه بنشینی چو چادر بایدت

هرچه هستت چون برای او بود
دوستی تو سزای او بود

ور تو خود را دوستر داری ازو
دشمنی تو گر خبر داری ازو

English translation

A thief went into the house of Rabia, That bird of spiritual visions was asleep. He took her chador and could not find the way out, He put it back and hurried towards the door. He took it again and came, but saw no path, When he put it down again, the doorway appeared. He became helpless; a hidden voice called out to him, Saying, "You must put the chador back this instant, Because even if one Friend is fast asleep, Another Friend is awake like this. Put down her chador if you want the door, Otherwise you must stay if you want the chador. Since whatever you have is for Him, Your friendship is worthy of Him. But if you love yourself more than Him, You are an enemy, if you are aware of Him."
